LHS sets times and dates for fall practice

The beginning of the fall sports season for high school athletes is now here, with the Lowry High School football team opening practice on Monday, from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. as part of the NIAA heat acclimatization period that lasts until Wednesday, Aug. 13.

The first day of non-contact drills begin on Thursday, Aug. 14, and the first day of contact drills will take place on Monday, Aug. 18.

The fall sports parents night will be held on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Lowry High School auditorium.

The remainder of fall sports will begin on Saturday, Aug. 16. The boys soccer team will start fall practice at 6 a.m., and the girls will begin at 7 a.m.

The Lady Buckaroo volleyball team will start on Monday, Aug. 18, with tryouts for freshmen and sophomores from 6:30 a.m. - 9 a.m. and junior and seniors from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. All grades will continue tryouts together at second session from 4:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m.

The girls golf team begins practice on Monday, Aug. 18, at 9 a.m. and the cross country team starts at 3:15 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18.

Free physicals will be available at HGH on Saturday Aug. 16, for incoming student-athletes, student-athletes injured after last physical, freshmen and juniors of winter/spring sports from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

The Lowry football team begins its season on Thursday, Aug. 28, in Reno against North Valleys of the Division I North. The Buckaroos make their home debut on Friday, Sept. 12, against Truckee.

After years of hosting a tournament to kickoff the season, the Lowry volleyball team will travel to Tahoe City, Calif., on Friday, Aug. 29, and Saturday, Aug. 30, for the North Tahoe Invitational. The Lady Bucks will see their home floor for the first time on Tuesday, Sept. 23, against Churchill County. Winnemucca will play host to the Division I-A North Volleyball Regional Championships.

The Lowry boys and girls soccer teams open their season on Friday, Sept. 5, and Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Spring Creek Jamboree. The Lady Bucks' first home game is Thursday, Sept. 9, against Churchill County and the boys will be at home on Saturday, Sept. 20, to play Truckee.

The Lowry girls golf team travels to South Tahoe on Wednesday, Sept. 3, and Dayton on Thursday, Sept. 4, in Dayton to begin its season. Lowry hosts the Division I-A North on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

The Lowry cross country team travels to Zephyr Cove on Friday, Sept. 5, for the Whittell Invitational. The Buckaroos' lone home meet will be on Friday, Oct. 10.

Lowry will celebrate Homecoming from Oct. 6-11.[[In-content Ad]]
