The academics of high school are often overshadowed by other festivities, sports championships, prom, extra curricular activities; teenagers in high school often aren't awarded for their daily work in the classroom. The academic assembly is a school-wide assembly where students are awarded for their academic work in the classroom.
Hundreds of awards are bequeathed to students, for GPA ratings to excelling students in each subject, to the most inspirational students of the year. Bridgette Gilboy and Perla Valdez won the latter award for overcoming hardships in their lives to become successful young adults.
Taylor Schwartz and Maeve Donovan were awarded for being the top two seniors, Valedictorian and Salutatorian. Medallion recipients are awarded for being the overall student in that subject; winners included Jessica Jensen for Art, Suhani Bhakta for Business, Ashley Bressem for Ag Education, Philip Kienholz for Auto Tech, Braxton Paulsen for Builing Trades, Sergio Castaneda for CADD, Karina Flores for Family and Consumer Science, Matt Ourada for Wielding, Wyatt Lester for Drama, Maeve Donovan for English, Luis Diaz Medina for Spanish Literature, Tytus Milikan for Foreign Language, Taylor LaTray for Leadership, Taylor Schwartz for Math, Chris Barta for Music, Kerry Buckmaster for PE, Taylor Schwartz for Science, and Maeve Donovan for Social Studies.
Beyond the academics, Encore Dance Academy performed multiple dance numbers, the Swing Choir sang, and the Lowry Percussion Class drummed on trash cans. Lowry's very own
Brycen Prokasky also entertained the audience by playing the guitar and singing of Fleetwood Mac tune.
The Academic Assembly is a small break where kids are awarded for what they spend the most time in with the least recognition. With this recognition, it feels the work is worth it. We would like to thank the Mining Foundation for Lowry High School as well as the Frontier Community Coalition for their generous sponsorships of awards and shirts for our assembly of excellence.[[In-content Ad]]
