WINNEMUCCA - Lowry High School's drama students will get to shine in their own spotlight next month as part of a fun new tradition at the school.
"Senior Skit Night" will be held on Tuesday, May 8, and Wednesday, May 9. Both evenings, performances will begin at 7 p.m. in the school's auditorium. There is no charge to attend.
This year's program is entitled "Legacy: A Salute to Seniors."
Lowry High School Drama and Stagecraft teacher Corrine James said the senior skits highlight the "career" of each graduating senior with special recognition to their parents at the Wednesday evening performance.
"It is a montage of various short skits, everything from Shakespeare to modern comedy, ballet to Basque dancing," she said. "Each senior gets his or her 5- to 15-minutes of fame."
James said seniors choose or write each piece, and serve as skit director as well.
This is the third annual senior skit program, which was the brainchild of Jeanette Carter, James' mother.
The event is proudly presented by Lowry High School's Drama and Stagecraft students. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and $1 for youngsters.
