LHS announces student elections results

By Allison Barron

Lowry held their annual student elections on Feb. 27, 2014. There were a total of 28 students that participated in the election process this year. In order to run there was a series of steps that needed to be completed by the students.

They were required to fill out an application with questions as to how they were going to lead and their ideas for the upcoming school year, campaign with posters that they made, go through an interview process, and finish off the election period with a speech in front of their grade for the class officers and in front of all of the grades for the student body officers.

Class officers are in charge of running class meetings, decorating the hallways and gym during Homecoming and Wintefest weeks, and anything involved with their individual grade. Student body officers are the students that plan the pep assemblies, run the student council meetings, and are the overall voices of the school.

The newly elected officers for 2014-2015 are: Zane Fifield (Freshmen Class President), Kepa Bengochea (Freshmen Class Vice President), Sylvie Prokasky (Freshmen Class Secretary/Treasurer), Amaya Herrera (Sophomore Class President), Annaleise Gabica (Sophomore Class Vice President), Tiana Herrera (Sophomore Class Secretary/Treasurer), Ashlee Barron (Junior Class President), Abby DeLaMora (Junior Class Vice President), Megan Villarreal (Junior Class Secretary/Treasurer), Makenna Mavity (Senior Class President), Joshua Rose (Senior Class Vice President), Irene Diaz (Senior Class Secretary/Treasurer), Meg Montero (Student Body President), Cecily Snow ( Student Body Vice President), Brycen Prokasky (Student Body Secretary), Madison Mayo (Student Body Treasurer), and Kylie Hilbish (Student Body Historian).
