Lewis Edward Wells, 69, of Imlay died May 7, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital. He had been in poor health since 2005 when he suffered a stroke causing paralysis of his left side.
Lewis was born July 31, 1942, in Dallas, Texas, to parents Lewis Arthur Wells and Pauline Elizabeth Pethel Wells.
During his lifetime he lived in Hope and Clonch, N.M. and attended Corona New Mexico High School. He also lived in Illinois, Colorado and Nevada.
He married his wife LaMona Rae Hunter in Zion, Ill., at the AmVet Hall on Feb. 27, 1971.
Lewis had many occupations. He was a long haul trucker with his brother-in-law, a High Liner with Larsen Construction in Illinois. He worked for Hawks Nest Coal Mine in Hotchkiss, Colo. After moving to Nevada he worked at the Star Peak Ranch and the Burns Brothers and TA Truck Stops in Rye Patch.
Lewis was preceded in death by both parents, a grandson, a brother-in-law, a sister, and a son-in-law. Survivors include his wife LaMona Rae, daughter Jeannette Mona Rae, two sisters Patricia Stuart of Hotchkiss, Colo., and Ella Sue Weeks of North Carolina and 5 grandchildren and various nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at the Church of the Good Shepard, D.W. Hutson pastor, time 10 a.m. May 19, 2012.
