Leon was born in Denver, CO to Neil Root and Bernice Harness Dennison.  He was the second eldest of six children, brother of Doug, Willard, Sam, Evelyn and Marilyn Dennison.  In 1954 when Leon was 16 his family relocated to the Seattle, WA area.  There he attended Cleveland High School.  He met Ann Marie of Georgetown, WA and they were married.  A few years later, in 1963, he went into the U.S. Army. Leon was honorably discharged in 1965 while stationed in Anchorage, AK. He and his wife Ann had two children Leon and Lori.

Leon moved back to Washington state in the mid 70's and was remarried.  He and his wife Mary traveled to the Louisiana and Texas area where he operated heavy machinery and worked in the shipyards in Louisiana. He relocated to the state of Nevada in the 80's eventually settling in the town of Winnemucca where he has called home for the last 20 plus years. He worked in the mining industry as a heavy equipment operator and retired from Pegasus Mine.

Leon had a calmness and sentimentalism about him. He had a gentle warm soul and a huge loving and caring heart. Leon had compassion for people and animals. He was very kind and considerate to everyone. He was a good man. He had a love for his cats, he liked to take walks, he liked trains and as a kid in Denver he enjoyed watching them come in. He loved Alaska and his old Ford Thunderbird. Leon loved his children deeply.

Leon is preceded in death by his mother Bernice, father Neil, brother Doug and first wife Ann Dennison. He is survived by his wife Mary Dennison, son Leon Dennison Jr, daughter Lori Dennison, granddaughter Leah Dennison, brothers Willard and Sam Dennison, sisters Evelyn and Marilyn Dennison, step-daughter Patty Hoolahan and her son Robert Hoolahan (Who called Leon papa). He also leaves behind numerous extended family and friends.

Leon will be greatly missed and in our hearts forever. No services at this time.
