Leadership hosting fundraiser for local women

With the new school year already in full swing, Lowry High School's Leadership class has hit the ground running! To kick off the school year, Leadership hosted their annual welcome back week, adding a Hawaiian theme to an otherwise dreary first week of school with lunchtime activities, assemblies, and plenty of inflatable beach balls.

Of course the action doesn't stop there for the young leaders of Lowry High School. With Homecoming right around the corner, we are preparing to help our student body leave Elko's headdress in a mess, all while hosting a Homecoming to remember.

We will also be holding the NASC Northern Regional Conference in November and building a conference worthy of the entire northern region requires plenty of work, especially when the conference will last for two days.

But, no matter how busy we seem to be, Lowry Leadership always recognizes when members of our Winnemucca community are in need, and as always we take action.

On Friday, Oct. 10 from 4 - 6 p.m. Leadership will be hosting a benefit barbecue in the parking lot in front of the football field to benefit Julia Aitken, Joelle Cooper and Tovi Hilbish who have all been diagnosed with cancer. Tickets are $8 each and are good for your choice of a hotdog, chorizo, or hamburger, a bag of chips, a beverage, and a desert.

Tickets can be purchased from any student in Leadership, by email though Tanya Grady (tgrady@humboldt.k12.nv.us), or at the event itself. Be sure to come down and help Lowry Leadership raise support and awareness at this great event!
