WINNEMUCCA - On May 11, all northern Nevada residents are invited to join the "LaRena Smith Bengoa Run, Ride or Walk for the Cure."
This year's 11th annual race will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at French Ford Middle School in Winnemucca. Registration and packet pickup will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Participants may choose to run, ride or walk 1-, 3- and 5-mile courses. Mary Bengoa said in the past, some participants have even driven golf carts and horse-drawn carts.
Whatever the mode of transportation, Bengoa said, "This event is all about fun while we create a community of support; all ages and walks of life are welcome."
Registration fees are $25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens and team members, and $10 for children under 10. In addition, phantom racers are welcome for $25.
