BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Newmont External Relations Representative Shar Peterson recently presented a check to Jim Squibb, Lander County School District superintendent, for $20,000 to honor Newmont's commitment to education.
Four years ago, Newmont and the Lander County School District developed a program to distribute Newmont's funding to programs and educational needs within the local schools.
A committee of school administration personnel and teachers meet to review requests submitted by local classroom teachers and educational-based clubs within the school district.
Newmont Mining Corporation is proud to partner with the Lander County School District. In addition to financial donations, Newmont also works with local schools presenting educational programs throughout the school year.
