RENO - Summit Engineering Corporation, headquartered in Reno and with a satellite office in Elko, is assisting Lander County to enter the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Community Rating System (CRS).
Summit and Lander County are currently working with the Insurance Services Office/CRS Specialist David Arkens to prepare the CRS application.
A CRS new application visit will be held on Nov. 8 in Battle Mountain with Arkens, Lander County officials and Summit Engineering. At this meeting, Lander County will be providing the documentation required for each activity they are requesting to receive credit for.
"This meeting on Nov. 8 is very important," said Steve Morton, planning manager with Summit Engineering. "This meeting will be the opportunity to show what credits we feel Lander County deserves and to provide the required documentation to receive those credits. The ultimate goal of this meeting is to prove Lander County has enough credits to enter into the CRS as a Class 9 community."
