Lander County 4-H clubs recognized, awards given

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - On Nov. 7 the Lander County 4-H clubs celebrated the end of year with an awards ceremony and a potluck dinner.

 The members, leaders and volunteers all worked hard on the year's projects but still made sure they had plenty of fun doing so.

Members completed their record books and received ribbons and prizes. The record book are graded and based on points. For our senior  record book winners it was a tie for first place between Dillon Thompson and LaRae Tomera. Second place went to Tyson McKenzie. The intermediate first place winner was Cameron Thompson and second place went to Trista McKenzie.  There were no juniors this year.  The clover buds received ribbons as well for a job well done on their record books.

All of the club leaders were in attendance to give out their project and year pins. Tammy Conners kicked off the awards with presenting her crochet group. In her group were Amber Burch and Cheyenne Brock, who received their pins. Tammy Conner is also our marksmanship leader with Ron Huntington.  

Next came the Lego Robotics with Alex Juvera (Austin's Lego Robotic Leader) Jen and Jason Gillogley, the Lego Robotics leaders for Battle Mountain.  They presented awards to Tylor and Vanessa Gillogley, Adrian Berumen, Branden Juvera and Amber Burch.  

Next to present was Lynda Thompson with Lander County 4-H Livestock Group, which consists of Dillon Thompson, Cameron Thompson, LaRae Tomera, Lezli Baird, Kandise Baird and Thomas Baird.  The last presenter was leader Becky Blanthorn and co-leader Kristi Nelson presenting the Battle Mountain 4-H Livestock Group.  In their group was Tyson McKenzie, Trista McKenzie, Rebecca Nelson, Tylor Gillogley, Vanessa Gillogley, and Lena Blanthorn.

Also, special awards were presented to Jerry Annis for all his hard work with animal nutrition for the livestock kids. Fernando Torres also received a special award for taking the time to care for the 4-Hers' livestock and make sure they are healthy. Other special awards went to Rod Davis, Shannon Berumen, Eric Nelson, Tom McKenzie and Tonya McKenzie for all of their hard work and dedication to the 4-H program.
