WINNEMUCCA - The McDermitt High School volleyball team stepped out of league play this past weekend with a pair of road matches against Lander County schools.
The Lady Bulldogs (2-6 Division IV East, 5-8 overall), traveled to Battle Mountain on Friday, Oct. 4, to face the Lady Longhorns' junior varsity squad.
Battle Mountain, a member of the Division III North, won the first two sets 25-17 and 25-23. McDermitt came back to win the third set 25-23 to keep the match alive. The Lady Bulldogs controlled much of the set, before hanging on for the two-point win.
The Lady Longhorns jumped to an early lead in the fourth set and held on for the 25-17 victory to win the match.
McDermitt was back on the road Saturday to play in Austin. Even though both teams are in the Division IV East, the matchup was a non-league clash. The Fillies are playing as an independent this fall, after not playing a season ago.
The Lady Bulldogs completed the season sweep of the Fillies, winning 25-20, 25-19 and 25-15. McDermitt beat Austin in three sets earlier in the year in McDermitt.
The Lady Bulldogs played host to Round Mountain on Thursday and results were not available at press time. McDermitt travels to Crane, Ore., on Thursday, Oct. 17, for a 4 p.m. match and will be back on the road on Saturday, Oct. 19, with a return trip to Round Mountain for 2 p.m. start.
McDermitt wraps up its league schedule with a doubleheader match in Owyhee on Friday, Nov. 1.[[In-content Ad]]
