WINNEMUCCA - After playing a majority of its Division IV East schedule in September, the McDermitt High School volleyball team is currently going through a slate of non-conference matches.
The Lady Bulldogs (2-6 Division IV East, 5-8 overall) hosted their final match of the season on Thursday, Oct. 10, against Round Mountain of the Division IV South.
McDermitt easily won the first set 25-14, only to see the Knights bounce back to win the second set 25-13. However, the Lady Bulldogs dominated from there to win the third and fourth sets 25-8 and 25-19, respectively.
McDermitt is currently fifth in the Division IV East standings, with the top four teams qualifying for the regional championships at Wooster High School on Friday, Nov. 8, and Saturday, Nov. 9.
Eureka leads the league with a 4-0 record and Wells is second at 5-1. Carlin (3-2) and Jackpot (3-4) are third and fourth, respectively.
McDermitt traveled to Crane, Ore., on Thursday to play the Crane JV and results were not available at press time. The Lady Bulldogs head south to Round Mountain on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match.
McDermitt closes out its regular season on Friday, Nov. 1, when it travels to Owyhee for a doubleheader, beginning at 4 p.m. (MST).
