Lady Bulldogs earn one win in four league matches

McDermitt travels to Austin on Saturday

WINNEMUCCA - The McDermitt High School volleyball team wrapped up its home slate of conference matches last weekend against Carlin and Eureka.

The Lady Bulldogs (2-6 Division IV East, 4-7 overall) split their two matches with the Railroaders on Friday, Sept. 27.

In the first match of the doubleheader, Carlin won the opening set 25-14, but McDermitt battled back to win the final two sets 25-21 and 15-10.

In the nightcap, the results were just the opposite, with McDermitt pulling out a 25-23 win the opening set. However, the Railroaders came back to win the second set 25-14 and the third 15-6 to earn a split on the day.

McDermitt closed out its Homecoming week on Saturday with a pair of matches against Eureka. The Vandals won the opener 25-15 and 25-15 and the second the match 25-19 and 25-17 to complete the sweep.

The Lady Bulldogs have just two league matches left on the schedule and they will take place on Friday, Nov. 1, in Owyhee. McDermitt will have to wait through the month of October to see how the rest of the league plays out with the hopes of capturing one of the four regional championship playoff spots.

The Lady Bulldogs travel to Austin on Saturday for a 1 p.m. non-conference match with the Fillies. Austin is playing as an independent this year.

McDermitt is back on its home floor on Thursday to play Round Mountain at 4 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs make the return trip to Round Mountain on Saturday, Oct. 19, with a 2 p.m. start.
