Lady Bucks claim two of three from Sparks

Buckaroo baseball team drops three to Railroaders

The Lowry High School softball team opened its Division I-A North schedule with two wins at Sparks this past weekend.

The Lady Bucks defeated the Railroaders 20-6 on Friday afternoon. Lowry trailed 4-3 after one inning, but scored 11 times in the second inning.

Alyssa Dendary picked up four hits and drove in seven runs. The senior also pitched a complete game in the circle and allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits. She struck out five.

Kylee McClellan, Alyssa Kuskie, Caitlynn Cooper and Stevie DeStout each had two hits.

On Saturday, Lowry split a doubleheader, winning game one 7-3, while dropping the nightcap 13-12.

Kuskie collected the win in the circle in game one, allowing three runs on three hits.

She struck out four in earning her second win of the season.

Ashlee Barron and Cooper had two hits apiece. Barron drove in two runs.

After trailing 2-1 after two innings, Lowry scored two runs each in the second, fourth and fifth innings.

In the nightcap. Lowry led 12-7 going in to the bottom of the seventh inning, but Sparks scored six runs in the final frame to pull off the victory.

Dendary and McKenna Jones shared time in the circle, with Dendary taking the loss.

Lowry had 16 hits, with Shelby McKinnon picking up three and driving in four runs.

Alana Miller, DeStout, Barron, Kuskie and McClellan each had two hits.

The Lady Bucks are 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Division I-A North.

The Lowry baseball team dropped all three games to Sparks, starting with a 15-6 loss on Friday.

Lowry led 2-0 after one inning, but the Railroaders scored eight times in the second inning.

Brian Shettler took the loss, as Colin Doyle and Anthony Silva also saw time on the mound.

Mickey Donovan had two hits and drove in a run. Jared Taylor also had a RBI.

On Saturday, Lowry lost 12-2 and 12-11 to fall to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the Division I-A North.

The Railroaders scored the first 10 runs of the game, when the Buckaroos plated two runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Lowry had three hits, with Donovan Brumm picking up a RBI. Jake Barens took the loss.

In the finale, Lowry led 5-0 after the top of the second inning only to see Sparks score seven times. The Buckaroos were ahead 11-8 in the seventh inning, but the Railroaders plated four runs to win 12-8.

Kyle Schultz took the loss in the game.

Trey Marriott had two hits and Barnes and Brumm drove in two runs.

Lowry baseball and softball host Elko this weekend, starting Friday at 3 p.m. The two schools play twice Saturday at 11 a.m.
