Kingston Winter Bazaar to be held Dec. 1

Event to feature vendors, food and raffles

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Thanks to the success of the Kingston Outdoor Market that was held Sept. 1, there will be a Kingston Winter Bazaar to be held Dec. 1 at the Kingston Community Hall from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"There was a lot of interest in a winter event to follow up on the success of the outdoor market," said Bradley Ward, the main event organizer who sits on the Kingston Parks Department.

The event is being hosted by the Kingston Parks Department. The department is a new nonprofit organization with 12 volunteer members.

The money raised from the bazaar will go toward split rail fencing for Lee Baker Park, automatic irrigation systems and additional trees and grass, Ward said.

This is the first parks department bazaar, but Ward said he is hoping to make it an annual event.

So far, vendors are signed up, mainly from Smoky Valley, to sell custom jewelry, western art, clothing, gift baskets, gourmet food and drinks and framed and unframed photography.

"Come do your holiday shopping early," said Ward. "It will be great food and fun."

Ward is still looking for vendors. Those who would like to sign up can call him at (775) 964-1034. Booths cost $10 in advance or $25 the day of the event. Tables can be rented for $10 each. Each vendor is asked to donate a raffle item.

There will be a general raffle with donated items as well as vendor items and a separate gun raffle for a Ruger 10-22 rifle with synthetic stock, a custom Ruger gun case, a Ruger 25-round magazine and a box of .22 long rifle bullets collectively valued at more than $350.

Whoever wins the rifle will have to pay $25 for a background check and will have to pass the background check to take it home.

Tickets for the general raffle can be purchased at the event and tickets for the gun raffle can be purchased in advance at Zach's Lucky Spur Saloon in Kingston, the Kingston Creek Lodge and the Half Moon Saloon in Hadley.

Round Mountain Gold Corporation, the Half Moon Saloon, Zach's Lucky Spur Saloon and the Kingston Creek Lodge have already donated items for the general raffle. Anyone who would like to donate a raffle prize is asked to call Ward. All donations are tax deductible. Raffle tickets will be $1 each, six for $5 or 125 for $100.

The parks department will be hosting a pancake breakfast and a lunch. In addition to pancakes, the breakfast will feature eggs, sausage, orange juice and coffee. Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The lunch will be served at noon and will feature New England clam chowder, western chili, sweet corn bread and French bread. Cocktails, beer, wine, soda and water will be sold throughout the day.
