KINGSTON - The sixth annual Kingston Village Baptist Church Revival was held July 20 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and saw plenty of fellowship mixed with speakers spreading the word of the Lord.

There was food, raffles, a live solo singer and one person gave testimony at the event which saw around 35 people from Kingston, Amargosa, Reno, Smoky Valley and South Lake Tahoe.

"It was very uplifting," said Kingston Village Baptist Church Clerk Rita Palmer, who was the main event organizer. "It was a wonderful time and next year we are just looking forward to bigger and better."

In addition to Mitch Miller, of Amargosa, giving testimony, there were three speakers - Pastor Greg Kilgore, of Hadley, Sherry Donegan, of Amargosa, and Pastor Jimmy Walker, of Carvers.

Church hymn music was played at the event as well as CDs from God's Country Band. Jeanne Sedquick performed a live solo.

The day started with breakfast at 7 a.m. that consisted of pancakes, biscuits and gravy and lots of fruit.

A turkey sandwich lunch was served at noon, along with all types of salads and drinks. All of the food was free and was cooked and served by the church members.

Palmer said the event included lots of fellowship where people sat and talked about their Christian experiences including how they became Christian.

"I think the biggest thing of all is we are not judging each other," Palmer said. "We are there to give what God has given us to share and not to judge anybody else."

There were plenty of raffle prizes, including a pencil drawing, a crystal ornament, chairs and fillet knives. The Kingston Volunteer Fire Department donated some of the raffle items, Palmer said.

She added that this year's event was smaller than last year's three-day event, which drew more than 150 people from all over including California, Colorado, Arizona, Alaska, Goldfield, Tonopah, Fallon, Carvers, Round Mountain, Austin, Las Vegas and Amargosa.

Palmer said that next year church members are planning to go back to a three-day event.

There are around 15 members of the church, which started in 1985.[[In-content Ad]]
