"It turned out great," said Ann Miles, who organized the event along with her husband, John. "Can't wait till next year, that's what everybody says."

Her husband agreed.

"We had a great time out here," he said. "Everybody had a good time and it seems like they will be back. The weather was good and I had fun."

Registration started at 9 a.m. at the Miles End Lodge Bed and Breakfast in Kingston. The shooting followed at 10 a.m. at the shooting range just outside of Kingston.

The shooting lasted until around 2:30 p.m. and the barbecue was held at Miles End Lodge from around 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

"People have such a great time they don't want to leave," said Ann Miles.

The registration fee was $75 per shooter and included 100 rounds of sporting clays and the steak barbecue and cocktails. Each shooter also received a hat.

All of the money went toward holding the event, said John Miles. He provided the throwers and people were asked to bring their own guns and ammunition.

This is the fourth year for the event to be held. In its first year, it attracted around 30 people. Last year, around 50 people showed up.

There were $500 worth of door prizes and $500 in cash prizes. The door prizes included a Mossberg Ultra Mag 12 gauge pump shotgun won by Cory Kemp. Other door prizes included embroidered shooting bags, commercial grade sanders and grinders, barbecue tools, folding chairs and fishing rods.

The shooting prizes were awarded based on the Lewis System, said John Miles. Contestants participated as individuals. There were no teams. There were three classes. The winners for Top Gun were highest score - Neal Whitney with a score of 77, second place - Sean Fontes and third place - Stan Davis.

The winners of B Class were first place - Todd Jones, second place - Brent Redman and third place - Wayne Larsen. The Class C winners were first place - Tim Crowley, second place - Cory Kemp and third place - Jerry Simoni.

The event was held to celebrate Father's Day which was the following day. It was a family event and children ages 12 and up were allowed to participate with parental supervision, said John Miles.
