Kim decision a huge step backwards

Editor:

Humboldt General Hospital has just terminated their relationship with a very smart, dedicated, caring and hard-working surgeon, Dr. Kim. To realize they did this while expecting to expand their surgical services; and without noting cause, is unfathomable. If the issue was around her being on the board as an employee of the hospital, they should've put that on the table in that meeting. Certainly it's been discussed enough.

Dr. Kim has cared for about five of my family members. One case in particular has been very complicated and is ongoing. Without Dr. Kim's skills I don't know where we'd be. Probably at hospitals in Reno.

The caliber of Dr. Kim is a rare bird in large communities; much less smaller ones. I agree with Dr. Granath. This is a huge step backwards. Perhaps HGH ought to look at data on why many potential local patients choose to go to Reno or elsewhere before assuming they can expand HGH surgical staffing and services and really have the demand for those expanded services. Especially after firing a very talented surgeon, Dr. Kim, with a staunch patient following.

Thank you Dr. Kim for all you've helped my family with. My hope is you will stay in Winnemucca, and open what I'm sure will be a lively and successful practice, as well as get re-elected to the HGH board.
