Kent Becker

Kent Becker passed away on Dec. 23, 2014, at the age of 63. He died in his home in Battle Mountain, Nev., battling cancer. He was born in Harrisburg, Ill., on July 17, 1951, to Ernest Becker and Joyce Greer. He married Kris Rardin on Dec., 18, 1981, but then divorced and raised his son as a single parent. He is survived by his son, Wilbur Becker, of Battle Mountain, Nev.; his brother Keith Becker, of Mascot, Tenn.; and his mother Joyce Aten, of Tucson, Ariz. He was preceded by his father in death.

He moved to Battle Mountain in 1967 and graduated high school in 1969. He worked as a miner for Duvall Corporation, which then became Battle Mountain Gold, for 25 years. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and woodworking. He was a very good son, a generous friend and a loving parent.

Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Battle Mountain on Jan. 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. There will be refreshments served afterward in the fellowship hall of the church. The family asks that no flowers be purchased, but if donations wish to be given, please send them to the American Eagle Foundation (www.eagles.org) in his name, or bring the donations to the service where his family will forward it to the foundation.
