Katie Ann Engstrom and John Edward Strickland III were united in marriage on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The ceremony was jointly officiated by Reverand John Adams and Reverand John Cook.
Katie is the daughter of Charles & Debbie Engstrom of Winnemucca. She is a 2004 graduate of Lowry High School and graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 2009. John is the son of John and Teresa Strickland, Jr. of Fayetteville. He graduated from Fayetteville Christian School in 2006, Covenant College in 2010 and Army Officer's Candidate School in 2011.
The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father. She wore a trumpet style Queen Anne Venice lace gown designed by Justin Alexander. The dress was accented with a hand beaded silver belt at the waist line. The V back had buttons as closure down to the waistline and a sheer organza chapel length train. She carried a round bouquet of magenta Peruvian lilies adorned with pearl centers.
Katie was attended by her twin sister Kelsey Garis, of Watertown, NY, as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were her sister Megan Brown, Layton, UT, and friends Megan Blackstone, Fredericksburg, VA, Lindsey Anguiano, San Antonio, Texas, Laura Christian, Quartz Hill, CA, and Anna Schumacher, Pasco, WA. Flower girl was Ellie Kristine Brown, niece of the bride.
The groom was attended by his friend Stuart Beauchamp of Augusta, GA as best man. Groomsmen were friends Lee Warren, Norfolk, VA, J.P. Perry, Athens, GA, Evan Beauchamp, Atlanta, GA, Richard Peterson, Raleigh, NC, Justin Lee, Hope Mills, NC, and Nathan Herrmann, Raleigh, NC. Ring bearer was the bride's nephew, Dane Charles Brown.
A dinner reception prepared by Snyder Catering was held following the ceremony. The four-tiered wedding cake featured the bride's fall color selection of plum and magenta with silver accents.
The couple honeymooned in Cancun, Mexico. They currently reside in Fayetteville where John serves as a Second Lieutenant in Fort Bragg's 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army and Katie is employed as an ICU nurse at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
