Winnemucca residents saw some wild weather on the afternoon of July 4th. It was nice enough for the parade and events at Vesco Park, but then afternoon thunderstorms blew through with wind, hail and torrential rain. The wild weather didn't last long but left some damage in its wake. Above, trees were toppled at the Hobson residence at Thomas Canyon and Allen roads by winds in excess of 50 miles per hour. The National Weather Service reported a peak gust of 66 mph. The NWS also reported .25 inches of rain fell.
