He is also survived by his parents Oscar and Marta Romero of Winnemucca, his six sisters, Benita (Freddy Martinez) of Carrizo Springs, Texas; Patsy Romero (Tony Valdez), Margie Huerta, Rachel (Billy Braggs), and Linda (Steve Sevy) all of Winnemucca; and Becky Romero of Elko, Nev. In Winnemucca John had many treasured friends whom he considered family. He was a man who helped anyone whenever he could and not expect anything but friendship in return.

John enjoyed fishing, cooking, summertime barbecues with family and friends, traveling to visit family and friends and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

John did not leave us without leaving us many great memories.
