Joyce Lorraine (Cole) Stoker

Joyce Lorraine (Cole) Stoker passed away Monday, April 16, 2012, at Larkspur Lodge in Oroville, Calif., after battling Dementia for several months. She departed this life at age 78.

Joyce was born Jan. 4, 1934, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, daughter to Russell and Ruth (Keil) Cole. In 1952, she graduated from Mullan High School and then attended Kinman Business University in Spokane for two years. In 1956, Joyce married Stan Stoker, her high school sweetheart. Together, they shared 46 years of marriage.

During Stan's enlistment in the Army, they were stationed in Virginia where their daughter Debbie was born. Four years later, they had returned to Mullan and their son, Jeffrey was born. For the next 20 years, Joyce enjoyed working at First National Bank in Wallace and Osburn before retiring in 1979. Stan and Joyce then lived in various places in Nevada, finally settling in Winnemucca where Joyce volunteered for the local senior center.

Joyce was a caring, passionate lady, a dear friend to many, and a wonderful dedicated, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

In addition to her daughter and son, Joyce is survived by son-in-law Jim (Debbie) Evans, in Fairbanks, Alaska, daughter-in-law, Tammy (Jeff) Stoker, in Oroville, granddaughter, Tara Stoker, in Winnemucca, sister-in-law, Cheryl Stoker in Pennsylvania and two step-granddaughters, Jamie Evans Wiseman and Rebecca Evans in Colorado.

Joyce was an accomplished seamstress and craftsperson, enjoying painting, crocheting, and making quilts for the local senior centers. Joyce also enjoyed landscaping, gardening and helping her neighbors.

She is loved by so many; words cannot describe how she will be missed.

We celebrate her life and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. At Joyce's request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make donations to the Mullan Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 422, Mullan, Idaho 83846.
