Joshua Scott Macdonald enters guilty plea agreement

WINNEMUCCA - Joshua Scott Macdonald entered a guilty plea agreement to the amended charge of battery with a deadly weapon on Nov. 3 in Judge Michael Montero's Sixth Judicial District courtroom.

Macdonald had originally been charged with battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm related to an incident occurring on Aug. 11 at the Mine Shaft Bar.

Macdonald was alleged to have slashed the face of the victim with a sharp object.

Montero told Macdonald that the potential penalty for the conviction was two to 10 years prison with a fine of up to $10,000, probation was possible and that Macdonald could also be ordered to pay restitution to the victim.

When asked for the factual basis of his guilty plea, Macdonald required assistance from his attorney, Public Defender Matthew Stermitz. Stermitz told the court that his client had struck the victim and as a result, the victim's neck was sliced by a sharp implement.

Montero set Macdonald's sentencing for Jan. 9, 2012, at 2:30 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
