Jose Luis Martinez, 52, died at his home Nov. 5, 2014, in Reno, Nev., after losing his battle with cancer.
Jose was born July 11, 1962 to Mariano Martinez and Angleina Mendoza in Michoacan, Mexico. He was married to Gilma Aracely Diaz Lemus. After moving to the United States in 1978 he lived in Winnemucca and Reno, Nev., for more than 35 years.
Jose was a general contractor with Powerhouse Construction helping to build Kiley Ranch in Sparks, Double Diamond in Reno and Northstar and Marinda in North Reno. He was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church and a member of Charros Del Norte De Nevada (of northern Nevada). He trained horses in "Alta Escuela" (high school), specifically Aztec horse breed as well as Andalusian or P.R.E.
Jose is survived by his wife Gilma Aracely Diaz and his father Mariano Martinez. His five children Luis Angel, Esteban, Angelina Aime, Sydney Belen and Nathaly Virginia Martinez. His brothers Manuel, Gabriel, Fernando, Ismael, Mariano and Salvador. His sisters Audelia, Carmen, Tina and Esther.
Jose was preceded in death by his mother Angelina Mendoza and his brother Francisco Javier Martinez.
A viewing will be held Friday Nov. 7, 2014 at Sonoma Funeral Home from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at Saint Paul's Catholic Church on Saturday Nov. 8, 2014 with Rosary at 10 a.m. and mass at 11 a.m. Services are under the direction of Sonoma Funeral Home (775) 623-2986.[[In-content Ad]]
