John Hill Aitken Sr. born in Roseville, Placer County, Calif., on Dec. 26, 1920, to Ralph Bushell and Julia Hill Aitken and passed away on Jan. 29, 2012, at Humboldt General Hospital in Winnemucca. John married Patsy L. Dougherty June 29, 1944, in Roseville, Calif. He is survived by his wife Patsy, five children; sons: John (Jake) H. (Ilah), William Dougherty (Elizabeth), and Thomas Kelley (Connie), daughters: Susan Kathleen Kenison (Russell) and Bethany Jean Thompson (Jim), ten granddaughters, 12 grandsons, and 41 great-grandchildren; brother Ralph T. Aitken of Lincoln, Calif., sisters Edna Hilty of Roseville, Calif., and Barbee Rozelle of Carmichael, Calif.
John was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a 32 degree Mason- a member of Scottish Rite. He had a dairy in Rocklin, Calif., until 1964 when John moved his family to Humboldt County where he owned a livestock operation. In his later years, John enjoyed going to the Senior Center, having lunch and visiting with friends.
