Joe Dan Leonard Sr., 79, of Midland, Texas, passed away on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, in Midland. Memorial Services were on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel at 2:00 PM with Rev. Terry Easley officiating.

Joe was born to the late Don Carl, and Mozelle Leonard, on May 16, 1932, in Lawton, Okla. Joe graduated from Enid High School and received his Pharmacy Degree from Southwestern University in Weatherford, Okla. He married Nadine Danahy who preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 1975.

Joe had the privilege and honor to again find love and married Betty Carpenter on Feb. 25, 1977. He worked as a pharmacist until he retired to Midland, Texas, in 2009 to be near all their children. He was passionate about his work, and loved helping people. Everyone sought him out for answers, and he was always happy to help.

Joe served in the Korean War, serving in the Navy from June 1950 to 1954.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He loved to fish, hunt, and travel. He obtained his pilot's license while living in Nevada. He and Betty enjoyed flying all over the country.

Joe is survived by his wife, Betty Leonard, and children; Gaye Hebert, Joe Dan Leonard Jr., Dawn Etta Messer, Janie Lockett, and Joe Carpenter. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was a special man and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
