With broken hearts we announce the passing of Jerome Darrell "Jerry" Roux. Jerry quietly slipped from this world to the next with his sweetheart Shirley by his side on Jan. 16, 2012.
Jerry was born on Aug. 12, 1940, in Bonne Terre, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a truck driver for 30 years and then worked for Diamond Plastics.
He loved Nascar and in his early years was a stock car driver. He had a passion for fishing, a wicked sense of humor and never knew anyone as a stranger.
He leaves behind his wife Shirley A. Roux, daughters Michelle and Rene' Roux, son Wade Roux all of Reno; step son Lonnie Thompson, stepdaughters Paula Thompson and Marci Lancaster, sister Pam Wells, 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, grandson and great granddaughter.
Our lives have been touched and forever changed in knowing Jerry. A wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Grass Valley LDS chapel, 3105 Mary Way in Winnemucca. Visitation will begin at noon. Interment will follow at the Winnemucca cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home-Fallon - (775) 423-2255.
