Jeffrey Neil Felton, age 65, of Winnemucca, lost his battle with cancer on July 8. Jeff was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on March 22, 1948, the son of the late Jerome and Daisy Felton. He graduated from Beekmantown Central School in 1966 and received a BS in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University, Potsdam, N.Y., in 1986.
Jeff was married to Linda Musolff on Aug. 16, 1969. They resided initially in Plattsburgh, N.Y. and later also lived in Potsdam, N.Y.; Yuma, Ariz.; Salt Lake City, Utah; Rock Springs, Wyo., and Nampa, Idaho. Jeff and Linda have been residents of Winnemucca since 1995.
Beginning in 1969, Jeff served on active duty in the Air Force Reserves, and continued to serve in the Army Reserves until 1973.
He had a gift for "figuring things out." Along with that gift he had an unflagging willingness to assist others, both on the job and as a volunteer. In Nevada, he was involved in the mining industry and was vice president in charge of Nevada operations for Ramco Mining and Construction. He also taught construction technology for eight years at Canton College of Technology, Canton, N.Y.
Jeff was an active member of the United Methodist Church since 1996, where he was in charge of the volunteer team that maintained Camp Kelly, the church's camp facilities in Austin, Nev. He was an avid reader, a small plane pilot and a life-long horseman.
Jeff is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 44 years, Linda, and his two children: Jeffrey Matthew Felton (Grace) of Modesto, Calif., and Laura Felton Dumas (Alan) of The Woodlands, Texas, and five grandchildren. Survivors also include his five siblings: Lyn Felton (Norin) of Salt Lake City, Utah; Blair Loudat (Corky) of Gresham, Ore.; Virginia Felton (Jeff Hancock) of Seattle, Wash.; Jamie Felton of Galway, N.Y.; and Reed Felton (Linda) of Wauwatosa, Wis.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 13, at 11 a.m., at the United Methodist Church, 138 W. Winnemucca Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Kelly c/o the Memorial Fund of the United Methodist Church.
