Janlyn Renee Smart

Janlyn Renee Smart was born Dec. 22, 1963, in Winnemucca to Janice & Stanley E. Smart and entered into eternal rest April 16, 2012 in Fort McDermitt. She is preceded in death by her father Stanley; brothers, Clale Northrup, Edmund Smart, and Stanford Smart; sisters, Janelda Harney and Imogene S. Thomas.

Janlyn is survived by daughters, Daphne Smart of Reno, Tiffany Cagle, Winnemucca, and Mariah Cagle of Sutcliffe; grandchildren, Reign Crutcher, Ebony Crutcher, Ector Deluna, Jr., Isaac Barr, Devin Barr, Oliver Barr and expected baby girl (Mariah); mother Janice Smart of Fort McDermitt; brothers, Tex Northrup (Alvina), Earl Northrup, Leland Smart, Lindell Smart (Florence), and Myron Smart of Winnemucca; sisters Jody Smart of McDermitt and Eloura Rogers (Eddie) of Yerington. Siblings from a previous marriage of Stanley's include Erman Smart, Lyman Smart, and Idell S. Crutcher all of Fort McDermitt. Extended family include nephews, Lindsey Northrup, Cameron Smart, Dakota Smart, Ralph Jim IV, Everette Jade Jim, Stanley Rogers, Jacob Smart and Treagan Catches; nieces Marcy Northrup, Elizabeth Rogers, Savena Rogers, Jessique Jim, Chandra Catches, Maureen Northrup, Marlene Northrup, Racquel Northrup, LaRae Northrup, and Tessa Smart; additional survivors include many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends from different areas of the United States.

Janlyn, a doting mother of three daughters loved to be outdoors, whether it was fishing, exploring, or mowing her small yard. She loved to drive up into the Santa Rosa Range near McDermitt just to sight see. Janlyn adored her grandchildren and spent every moment of her spare time to shower them with love, she was especially excited in welcoming her new soon-to-be granddaughter. Janlyn loved music and would listen to various types of songs, but remained true to her love of Native Country Music. She loved to have fun with her family and friends; always full of life, she joked and teased everyone she knew. Janlyn was the life of the party at many social functions she attended. She was a remarkable woman who was employed by the Say "When" casino in McDermitt for the past 30 years and will be truly missed by all her co-workers, friends and family.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at 1 p.m. in the Tribal Gym, Fort McDermitt, the viewing and traditional services were held Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at 420 South Reservation Road.
