James R. Anderson, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno, Nev.
Born April 6, 1932, in South Gate, Calif., he grew up in Newman, Calif., where he graduated from Orestimba High School in 1950. Jim's love of photography at a young age led to him photographing for various newspapers which included the Merced Sun-Star and the Eureka Times.
Jim moved to Reno, Nev., in 1954 where he opened Cal's 19 Cent Burger in Sparks, Nev. He met his future wife, Dallene DeFluiter, and married in 1955. Jim decided to join Prudential Insurance Company in 1957 and had a successful career as a sales agent and division manager. Jim and Dallene raised their four children during their time in the Reno area.
In 1978, Jim and Dallene decided to build their dream home in Winnemucca, Nev., to slow down the pace of their busy lives. Jim and a partner formed EZ/Out Bail Bonds in 1992 and later sold the business to a local family.
Jim is survived by his four children: Gary H. Anderson, Lonnie Massotty, Richard J. Anderson, James P. Anderson; one brother, Gary S. Anderson; six grandchildren, a niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife Dallene in February 2008.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the Mountain View Cemetery, 435 Stoker Avenue, Reno, Nev.
