Next week, students at Sonoma Heights Elementary School will celebrate kindness during Friendship Spirit Week, which will focus on celebrating the staff and students who make good choices and treat one another respectfully.

The school kicked off its popcorn fundraiser assembly Tuesday by announcing the schedule for Friendship Spirit Week, which was planned by a group of fourth grade leaders in Ann Lampshire's class - Rylee Hockensmith, Alyssa Perez, Saralitzy Magana and Mackenzie Coumerilh.

The theme is: "It's Cool to be Kind."

The week will consist of dress up days, fun and activities. Monday is hero day, Tuesday is twin day, Wednesday is crazy hair/hat day, Thursday is mismatch day and Friday is Sonoma Spirit Day (all blue and white).

Some of the money raised from popcorn sales will be used to purchase a "Buddy Bench" or two for the playground. Buddy Benches are designated benches on the playground where students can sit if they cannot find any friends to play with at recess.

Kind students will then be able to approach the Buddy Bench and invite the lonely student to play with them. The spirit week will kick off next, March 24-28, and popcorn will be sold through April 8.[[In-content Ad]]
