It was a 'trick-or-treat' extravaganza weekend in Battle Mountain

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Trick or treat for the youth of Battle Mountain started on Friday, Oct. 28. On this day the businesses treated all the little Battle Mountain tricksters to gobs of candy. From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. the local trick or treaters visited the doors of all the businesses displaying the pumpkin page from the Battle Mountain Bugle. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Kids wore their costumes and didn't need to cover them with a jacket of any sort. This was just the beginning of a sugar-filled weekend.

The trick-or-treaters of Battle Mountain got to utilize their costumes two times, not counting any individual private parties they attended or had in school, but they also were able to celebrate the occasion on its normal day of Oct. 31 "Halloween" day. On this day the Battle Mountain Family Resource Center held their annual Pumpkin Festival, where little toddlers were able to get all the candy they wanted plus play games without having to travel the streets. The Battle Mountain Civic Center had about a dozen games set up all around the inside, where little ghosts and goblins played games, winning candy every time. The candy was donated by the Battle Mountain Chamber of Commerce.

The generosity of the businesses on Friday, plus Halloween on Monday, made for a great "trick-or-treat" extravaganza for all the little ghosts, vampires, superheroes, princesses, pirates and witches in Battle Mountain.
