WINNEMUCCA - Winnemucca police officers were dispatched to East Fourth Street for the report of an injury accident involving two motorcycles early Wednesday morning.
According to a WPD news release, officers arrived on scene at about 3:10 a.m. to find two motorcycles which had collided. Both motorcycles were carrying passengers and all appeared to be injured.
After further investigation it was determined that the two motorcycles were traveling together. The lead motorcycle, operated by Trevor Heitman, 22, stopped in the travel lane and was struck by the rear vehicle, operated by Christian Huber, 19. Both motorcycles were laid over, ejecting all riders, the WPD said.
All the riders were transported to Humboldt General Hospital by HGH ambulance. Two were transported to Renown Medical Center in Reno from HGH with severe injuries. None of the riders were wearing helmets, according to the news release.
The WPD said alcohol appears to be a factor and this case is still under investigation.
