IMLAY - Five students, one from each grade level in Imlay Elementary School, traveled to Lovelock for the annual Pershing County Spelling Bee on May 8.
All students did a great job and made their teachers and fellow students very proud, said Imlay Elementary School teacher Tashia Spradley.
Dalton McNeff hung on through several rounds and watched other third graders eliminated by the word "charcoal." He correctly spelled "naughty" to become the third-grade champion. Anyone curious about how he knew that word so well?
The winners in the other elementary grades included Dalley Myers (first grade), Kylee Fuller (second grade), Drew Gilliland (fourth grade) and Elias Allen (fifth grade).
