Idaho man charged in domestic battery case

WINNEMUCCA - Joseph Robert Wasson, 20, of Idaho, was scheduled to make his first appearance in Justice Court on June 13 at 8:15 a.m. on three felony charges and two misdemeanor charges resulting from a suspected domestic battery incident that Humboldt County Sheriff's deputies responded to on May 31.

Wasson is charged with domestic battery by strangulation, a category C felony; coercion, a category B felony; kidnapping in the second degree, a category C felony; child abuse, neglect, and endangerment, a gross misdemeanor; and domestic battery, a misdemeanor, according to court documents.

The criminal complaint filed in Justice Court alleges that Wasson strangled the victim in the case and then "dragged (her) back into the home after she tried to leave."

The complaint also says that Wasson prevented the victim, a person with whom he lives with and shares a child with, from leaving or calling for help and punched her in the face multiple times.

The complaint alleges that Wasson also fled with a one-year-old child in the middle of the night while it was cold and the defendant was intoxicated.
