Ida Cordelia Unger passed away on Sept. 21, 2013, in Winnemucca at the age of 86.
Ida was born to Richard and Cordelia Collins on Nov. 22, 1926, in Manassas, Va. She moved to Winnemucca in 1947 where she and her husband of 64 years Bob Unger built their lives, raising their two sons, Ron Unger of Battle Mountain and Mitchell Unger of Spring Creek.
During her life Ida worked at the Star Cafe, Ramasco Jewelry, Sonoma Inn Gift Shop and in the kitchen at Lowry High School. Ida was active in the community as P.E.O. for 50-plus years with Cowbells, the Hospital Auxiliary, Bridge Club and the Winnemucca Senior Center. Ida loved being a homemaker and cooking.
Ida is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Cordelia Collins, and six brothers. She is survived by her husband Bob Unger, her sons Ron and Mitchell Unger; grandchildren Jim Bob, Cody, Ronica Curtis and Leslie Unger, Sheryl Klein and Bill Davis; great-grandchildren Brooke, Shyann, Teron, Guyar, Gavin, Kaiden and Isabel Unger, Abigail and Brianna Davis.
Memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Winnemucca on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at 10 a.m., with interment at Winnemucca Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Harmony Manor for the care they gave to Ida.
