WINNEMUCCA - Sandi Lehman is the new Chief Financial Officer at Humboldt General Hospital.
The Idaho native began her new position on Oct. 1. Larry Hutcheson, who has served as CFO since 2007, will officially retire from the facility December 14.
Lehman has been working at HGH since January 2012 as the hospital's controller.
Humboldt General Hospital CEO/Administrator Jim Parrish announced Lehman's promotion at the Tuesday, Sept. 25, meeting of the Humboldt County Hospital District Board of Trustees.
"We're so happy to have Sandi as part of the HGH team," Parrish told members. "Please welcome her as our new CFO."
Most recently, Lehman was CFO of a small eastern Wyoming critical access hospital which included a rural health clinic. Before that, she was CFO of her hometown hospital in southeast Idaho, a 10-bed critical access hospital with a 31-bed skilled nursing facility and a rural health clinic.
Both communities had populations of about 1,400 people.
Lehman said moving to Winnemucca and working at HGH was a great opportunity for her to make a move to a slightly bigger facility "while at the same time being small enough that I could use my experience in many areas of healthcare."
Lehman continued, "My family and I were looking for a place that was a little bigger than where we were at and closer to our family in California and Idaho."
The new CFO said moving to Winnemucca also created some better employment opportunities for her husband.
Lehman said she truly enjoys every aspect of the healthcare spectrum.
"Because of the size of hospitals that I have worked at, I haven't ever just done financials or accounting," she said, "I get to be involved in nearly every area of the health care operation."
She added, "I especially like the fact that I get to work with so many wonderful and talented people."
Lehman is also excited to put her knowledge and experience to work to help HGH improve its billing processes in both the hospital and clinics.
In her spare time, Lehman enjoys traveling and running. She is also working toward her master's degree and is in the process of taking the CPA exam.
She and her husband of 20 years have three children: an 18-year-old daughter who recently started college in Sacramento, a 9-year-son and a middle son who passed away when he was four months old; he would have been 11 this year.
As the new Chief Financial Officer at Humboldt General Hospital, Lehman will provide oversight for all financial activities at the facility located at 118 E. Haskell Street in Winnemucca.
"We have total confidence in Sandi's abilities," said CEO Jim Parrish. "With Sandi's help, we will continue to move this organization forward in ways that will be of great benefit to our community."
