WINNEMUCCA - Humboldt General Hospital will host a community forum this month to give local residents a chance to voice any questions or issues they might have regarding the local facility.
The public meeting, which is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, will be the second of four quarterly forums scheduled for this year. The first meeting was held in January; similar meetings will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15.
All meetings will take place in Humboldt General Hospital's Sarah Winnemucca Conference Room. All community members are invited to attend and light refreshments will be served.
Humboldt General Hospital CEO/Administrator Jim Parrish said the hospital arrived at the idea of hosting a community forum late last year after witnessing residents' and hospital board members' frustration at not being able to adequately discuss questions or issues during regularly scheduled board meetings.
"It's just the wrong forum to really delve into our residents' concerns," he said. "We want to give people a place where they know they can get answers right away, or at least begin the process to put their issues to rest."
Tuesday's community forum will include a brief presentation by hospital supervisors regarding the various processes the hospital has in place to address suggestions, complaints, praise or problems from patients, visitors, employees and/or community members.
The bulk of the meeting will follow in a question and answer format, with members of the hospital's leadership helping to provide real-time answers to the public's inquiries.
Parrish added, "We are committed to providing quality care for our patients and for our community, but in order for us to do that effectively, we need to understand what stumbling blocks residents are facing."
He continued, "We want to know what we can do to remove those obstacles and help our community members have an exceptional care experience at Humboldt General Hospital."
