Humboldt General Hospital EMS Rescue to offer quarterly CEU course

WINNEMUCCA -Area EMS responders are invited to attend a six-credit-hour continuing education course.

Humboldt General Hospital's Emergency Medical Services Rescue will host the EMS Community Education Course from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, in the Sarah Winnemucca Conference Room at Humboldt General Hospital.

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) will learn about obstetrical emergencies, operational, emergencies and effective communications.

There is no charge to attend, but pre-registration is required.

According to HGH EMS Rescue Education Coordinator Ken Whittaker, the local service hosts a Community Education Course each quarter; each is worth six CEU credits. The service also sponsors an annual 24-hour/24-credit EMS Refresher at the end of each year.

"If our area responders follow our training schedule, they will have no problem meeting the national standards for re-certification every two years," said Whittaker.

All instruction is based on the National EMS Education Standards and is accredited through the State of Nevada EMS Office.

For more information or to pre-register, please call HGH EMS Rescue Training Coordinator Ken Whittaker at (775) 623-5222, ext. 262.
