Humboldt County voting precinct boundaries changed

WINNEMUCCA - This is to inform the voters of Humboldt County that per NRS 293.205 the County Clerk has altered the boundaries of voting precincts within the County of Humboldt.

This alteration was done to bring precincts into alignment based on voter numbers and the boundaries associated with the Assembly Districts which become effective on Jan. 1, 2012, for the purpose of filing for office and for nominating and electing members of the Nevada Assembly.

The changes to the Congressional Districts, Nevada Assembly Districts and Senate Districts were done by court order through the First Judicial District Court of the State of Nevada in and for Carson City and the final order in the matter was entered on Dec. 8. Said order indicated that the newly created districts would become effective on Jan. 1, 2012, only for the purpose of filing for office and for nominating and electing the representatives for those districts. For purposes of representation the current districts will remain in effect until the date when newly elected representatives take their office.

Once the newly elected representatives take their office, Humboldt County will lay entirely within Congressional District 2, Nevada Senatorial District 14, Nevada Assembly District 32 and Board of Education District 2.

New voter cards are being sent to all voters whose precincts have changed. Voters will not receive a card if there has been no change or if only a voter's Assembly District/Senate District has changed.
