Humboldt County Rodeo Club returns to action in Fernley Harper, Hoenck earn individual victories

WINNEMUCCA - The Humboldt County Rodeo Club began the spring portion of the Nevada High School Rodeo Association schedule this past weekend in Fernley.

Sam Harper won three events, including the saddle bronc and bull riding on Saturday. He scored 68 points in the saddle bronc and 63 in the bulls. Harper also won the Sunday saddle bronc with 69 points and finished fourth in team roping with Humboldt County teammate Clay Stremler in a time of 20.44 seconds.

Bobby Hoenck won both performances of boys cutting, scoring71 points on Saturday and 71.50 on Sunday. In addition, he finished second in the bareback riding on Saturday with a score of 61 and placed fourth in steer wrestling on Sunday with a time of 28.250.

DeeAnna Pasquale posted a number of top 10 finishes over the weekend, including a second-place finish in barrel racing on Sunday with a time of 18.100. She was third in cutting with a score of 71 and seventh in breakaway roping in a time of 13.53. On Saturday, Pasquale tied for fourth in the breakaway roping in a time of 4.75. She was seventh in barrel racing at 18.930 and was 10th in cutting with a score of 66.50.

Savannah Montero was second in Saturday's goat tying in a time of 7.93 and tied for fourth in cutting with 69 points. She placed fifth in pole bending on Sunday at 22.390 and was fifth in goat tying at 9.38. Dakota Flanagan finished second in Sunday's bull riding with a score of 63.

Riding as an independent, Josh Harrer finished fourth in Saturday's steer wrestling in a time of 16.41 and was fifth in team roping with Battle Mountain's Hank Filippini at 18.72. Harrer was fourth in Sunday's calf roping with a time of 15.66 and was ninth in team roping with Filippini at 38.90. Sharon Sherburn placed second in the Sunday cutting with a score of 71 and tied for fourth on Saturday at 69.

The rodeo association takes this weekend off for Easter and returns on April 13 - 15 in Yerington. Humboldt County will host its rodeo May 4 - 6 at the Winnemucca Events Complex.[[In-content Ad]]
