At the first commission meeting of the year, Humboldt County commissioners recognized employees who have stayed at their jobs for five, 10, 15, 25 and 35 years. The employees who were present to receive their plaques are pictured: (left to right top row), Sharon Barton, Debbie Engstrom, and Juan Acevedo, (second row), Shane Goodale, Betty Lawrence, Tami Rae Spero, Jessica Park, Colleen Cox and Bobby Thomas, (up front) Mary Ann Hammond and Anita Paquette. County Administrator Bill Deist said how much the county appreciates its longterm employees, adding that having employees who stay at their job saves taxpayers money while allowing the county to run more efficiently. "With long-term employees, you're not continually training; people know how to do their jobs and they do them well."
