Humboldt County Commissioners will be sworn in Monday Jan. 7, 2013

WINNEMUCCA - Judge Richard Wagner will be at the Courthouse this Monday morning to attend to the swearing in of one new and two returning Humboldt County Commissioners. Marlene Brissenden, Mike Bell, and Garley Amos will be sworn in at 8:30 a.m. The first Humboldt County Commission meeting of the year will begin at 9:30.

• 9:30 public comment, correction and approval of the minutes for both the Nov. 26, 2012 and Dec. 10, 2012 meetings.

• The commissioners will discuss the length of the term for county commission chairman and vice chairman, and immediately following, will elect the two people who will serve as commission chairman and vice chairman.

• 9:40 Annual service awards

• Administrative report by County Administrator, Bill Deist, including: pre-approval of overtime for the indigent coordinator, a request for adjustment to the Humboldt County real property tax roll, public lands matters, commissioners' reports

• 10:10 a.m. Commission assignments for the coming year

• 10:25 Approval of a joint resolution with the city for a franchise transfer or renewal for cable television.

• 10:30 Nuisance complaints include a public hearing on a complaint filed against Tomas Barajas and Hortencia Godinez at 3110 Artemesia Way, and a continued hearing on a complaint filed against property belonging to Richard and Yvonne Leader at 8655 Hunt Ave.

• 11:00 Amendments to the Humboldt County personnel policies.

• 11:15 Road matters include disposal of surplus equipment, a discussion with Nevada Department of Transportation representatives regarding speeding on Main Street in Paradise Valley, and a report of pending road department projects.

• 1:30 Planning matters cover a zone change application submitted by Michelle Borcher for Washoe Fuel Inc. to change zoning from commercial to industrial for property located at 4135 West Winnemucca Boulevard.

• 1:45 Sheriff's office appointment of a new Local Emergency Planning Committee and the liquor board will convene briefly to discuss approval of a change of license for the Pilot Travel Center.

• 2:15 The commissioners will discuss and possibly approve appointments to county boards including the fire districts, general improvement districts, the Orovada Rodent Control District, and the Winnemucca Convention and Visitors Authority (business representative).

An opportunity for brief public comment on any matter not on the agenda finishes out the meeting.
