Hugh was born in Upland, Calif., at San Antonio Hospital on Jan. 16 1947. He graduated from San Juan High School in Sacramento, Calif., and continued on to complete his Electrical Apprenticeship at the Kaiser Steel Plant in Fontana, Calif.
Hugh was married to his soulmate Nancy on Aug. 17, 1996, and recently celebrated their 17th anniversary!
Hugh retired as an Electrical Technician from Nevada Power (formerly known as Sierra Pacific Power), where he worked for 24 years. He then continued working as an Electrician/General Contractor for ESI, overseeing computerized upgrades to back-up diesel generators for the last five years.
He enjoyed many hobbies and interests such as boating, hunting, fishing, and camping; above all, his love for classic hot rods and baseball "Go Giants" never waivered! His final project was a 1957 Chevy Bel Air hardtop. Unfortunately, he never got the chance to finish it, although cancer did not stop him from trying!
Hugh is survived by his wife Nancy Burgess, grandchildren Layne Burgess, Kylee Burgess, Chandler Burgess, Troy Fuller, Lila-Rose Burgess, Dale Burgess and Gracie Burgess; his mother Christie Burgess, brother Wayne Burgess Jr. and life-long best friend of 56 years Ronnie Krouse. Hugh is also survived by his sister Martha Burgess, life-long sister Cathie Krouse and sister-in-law Janice Burgess. Hugh was not just a father to John Burgess, Gilbert Burgess, Alice Thibedeau, and Michael Fuller, he was an extended father to many others, especially Stacy Burgess, Anna Rae Lecumberry, Peter McCormick, and Charlie Thibedeau, to name but a few. Uncle Hugh is survived by his nephews and nieces Adam, Fame, Jayden, and Brea Angle, Thomas Williams and daughter Claire, Wayne III, Rachel, William, Madalyn, Gina, Genevieve, and Mike Burgess, Mike, Julie, Sierra, Michael Gio, Brianna, Alyssa, Mikenna, and Gianna Burgess, Alan Burgess, and Kaleb Burgess. Hugh has left no shortage of surviving friends and family, who will no doubt miss him dearly!
Hugh is preceded in death by his father Wayne Earl Burgess Sr. and sister Christie Marilea Burgess.

The family of Hugh Hampton Burgess wishes to thank SRK Consulting and Judy McMullen for the tremendous support they have given from the beginning.
We would also like to thank Reno Oncology, especially Dr. Conrath for his straightforward but caring bedside manner; additionally, the nurses on the 3rd floor of Saint Mary's Oncology Ward and nurse Trent, we could not have asked for more compassion! Moreover, we would like to thank Adam, Fame, and their children for all of their personal sacrifices, providing Hugh with the best homecare anyone could ever dream of! Thank you to all friends and family for your comforting words and random acts of kindness in our time of need. It will never be forgotten![[In-content Ad]]
