The Humboldt Volunteer Hospice is always looking for ways to better help this community's chronically and terminally ill residents.
Beginning this week, hospice volunteers are at it again with what they hope will be one of their best - and certainly most beautiful - efforts to raise funds.
The group will be selling raffle tickets for a quilt donated by Sharon Smith. The twin-size masterpiece is currently on display at the Humboldt Volunteer Hospice's Frugal Flamingo Thrift Store.
All raffle proceeds will go toward the hospice organization as it helps those facing end-of-life situations as well as those suffering from chronic illness.
Raffle tickets are now on sale at the Frugal Flamingo Thrift Store located at 720 E. Fourth St. Cost is $1 each or six for $5.
Tickets also may be purchased in advance from any hospice volunteer or at the hospice office located in the JOIN building, located at 705 E. Fourth St.
The drawing will take place at the Frugal Flamingo on Dec. 23; participants do not need to be present to win.
"This is such a great way for us to kick off our holiday season," said HVH Executive Director Sherry Smith. "This is the third year that Sharon has donated a quilt to the Humboldt Volunteer Hospice, and we are so grateful for her kindness and generosity."
