Lander County Hospice would like to thank the community for its support. We appreciate the willingness of local businesses to display our collection jars. Since putting them out three weeks ago, we have collected $166.36!
We would like to let you know what is happening with our new building. We had hoped to open our Community Store and Gift Shoppe by the end of the year, but it probably will not open until spring. A lot of reconstruction and updating has to be done at a cost much higher than we had estimated. When we have the final estimates for the building, we will have a thermometer displayed on the building window to keep everyone up to date on our progress. We are trying to use local contractors and supplies as much as possible. We have received funds from Newmont's Legacy Fund that take care of our month-to-month expense for hospice services and the building. Barrick Gold Strike Mining Company has donated toward the building expense and we are in the process of applying for other grants. We will be participating in local craft shows to help raise funds. We are also selling barnwood and memorial quilt block squares. We have all the necessary fixtures and equipment needed for the store in storage and have no room at this time for donations.
We are in the process of getting all the paperwork done to meet our legal requirements for a nonprofit corporation.
All the people who handle funds for Lander County Hospice have had background checks and are being bonded. We are doing monthly financial reports for our board of directors that are available to anyone by request. If you have any questions, you may call 775-635-8790. The current board members are: Crystal Bard, Michele Cason, Jill Chambliss, Trish Hanson, Vicki Hinton and Wannita Knox.
Thanks again to our wonderful community. May God bless you for all your help.
