Dell Sumin, a long time resident of Battle Mountain, was honored at her home in Pahrump on May 31 by members of the Order of the Eastern Star. Sumin has been an active member of the Order for 75 years, first in Mountain Star Chapter in Battle Mountain and later in Silver State Chapter in Winnemucca. She was presented her 75 year pin by Michael Giles, Worthy Patron of Silver State Chapter, in thanks for her years of service to and membership in the Order. On Aug. 23, some members of Silver State joined her friends and family for her 100th birthday celebration at a winery in Pahrump.
