Saturday, July 14, HGH will offer free sports physicals to all Lowry High School, McDermitt High School, Winnemucca Junior High School and Humboldt County youth sports organization athletes who will participate in fall sports including, but not limited to: football, boys and girls soccer, dance team, cheerleading, volleyball, girls golf and boys and girls cross country.
This is the fourth year the hospital has offered the free service. Humboldt General Hospital CEO/Administrator Jim Parrish said it's one way the hospital can help during tough economic times.
"We understand that it's an expensive proposition for our youth to play a sport," he said, "but sports also provide our youth with such a healthy, active outlet."
He continued, "So as this community's healthcare organization, we are happy to offer our services to ensure the good health of these young athletes, and hopefully help ease their parents' out-of-pocket expenses at the same time."
Members of HGH's medical staff will participate in the sports physical clinic.
Saturday, July 14, youth may stop by anytime between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on the main floor of Humboldt General Hospital's new medical office building.
Students will be served on a first-come, first-served basis; no appointments will be scheduled. Students should bring their sports physical form with them, and they should be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Free physicals will only be offered during the sports physical clinic and will not be available free of charge from HGH providers following the event.
